K2Share Sponsors 2nd Annual Alamo AFCEA Cyber Symposium

10 November  2010

SAN ANTONIO, TX. — K2Share, LLC, a veteran-owned small business and trusted cybersecurity partner to the Departments of Homeland Security and Defense (DHS and DoD), was again a sponsor for the Alamo Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) Cyber Chapter’s second-annual Cyber Symposium, which was held November 3-4, 2010, at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort, San Antonio, TX.

This year's Cyber Symposium built on last year’s inaugural event and was attended by over 570 government, civilian, and contractor personnel. The event focused on DoD Component Cyber Vision; Cyber Security Standards, Architecture and Compliance; and Cyber Workforce Development, and was connected to the city-wide celebration of Celebrate America's Military (CAM). Key speakers, such as, Major General Michael J. Basla, Vice Commander, Air Force Space Command and Mr. Robert (Bob) J. Butler, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy, Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy, shared their insight on the changes in cyber vision and the focus on Mission Assurance. The DoD and Federal agencies are working to define agency/department-critical mission processes and link to them the critical infrastructure, systems, employees, and assets needed to ensure they can deliver mission success, focusing cybersecurity defense-in-depth strategy planning on these critical assets.

K2Share’s support for the event comes from the company’s continued commitment to cybersecurity and protection of information technology systems, and authoritative and trusted knowledge that is critical to cyber operations’ mission success. Delivering security engineering to Federal and Defense systems, provides K2Share with firsthand experience with the challenges of securing information systems, while still enabling knowledge sharing across operational domains in any environment.

“As the Department of Defense and Federal agencies begin the transition from Information Assurance to Mission Assurance, and San Antonio is quickly evolving into the nations' cybersecurity hub, it is fitting that that Alamo AFCEA Cyber Chapter address the timely issues of “Securing bis quickly evolving into the nations' cybersecurity hub, it is fitting that that Alamo AFCEA Cyber Chapter address the timely issues of “Securing bThe Enterprise’ Today and Tomorrow” to deliver Mission Assurance,” said Don Byrd, K2Share’s Vice President of Defense and Intelligence. “We are honored to continue our support of Alamo AFCEA and San Antonio-based cybersecurity organizations.”
