K2Share - Diamond Sponsor for the 3nd Annual Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA DC) Cybersecurity SymposiumCyberSecurity Symposium Logo 2011

15 July  2011

WASHINGTON, D.C. - K2Share, LLC, a veteran-owned small business (VOSB) and trusted Cybersecurity partner to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department Defense (DoD), is again showing its commitment to Cybersecurity as a Diamond sponsor for the AFCEA DC Chapter's 3nd Annual Cybersecurity Symposium scheduled for July 15th, 2011, at the Capital Hilton, Washington DC.

Building upon the success of last year's Cybersecurity Symposium with 700+ attendees, as well as AFCEA DC's recent Mobile Symposium Conference in March, attendance at the Cybersecurity Symposium this year is expected to be a full-house with 800+ attendees.

The 3rd Annual AFCEA DC Cybersecurity Symposium will focus on the state of U.S. Cyber Command one year after its stand-up, specifically on the partnerships, relationships, dependencies, policies, and reach it must achieve to fulfill the Federal cyber protection mission. The Symposium will explore CYBERCOM's interface with the five Military Services, the Unified Commands/COCOMs, DHS, Civilian Agencies, Industry, and Coalition Partners, as these enmeshed interrelationships unfold and the framework for collaboration strengthens.

The Symposium will provide a platform for officials in the Military Services, OSD, DHS, Federal Civilian Agencies, the Administration, and Congress to share their goals, needs, requirements, and challenges with a large audience of professionals in the field who can help to achieve the cyber mission of protecting America. Panels will explore:

  • Consolidation, Cybersecurity & the Cloud: A Holistic View of Cyber Issues in the Private Cloud vs. Public Cloud Debate, which will also touch on the reorganization of DoD CIO, & CYBERCOM.
  • CYBERCOM/NSA's role in Protecting Critical Infrastructure & Preventing Cyber Disaster: Sharing threat information across the Military & across Agencies.
  • CYBERCOM One Year Later: Integration, Penetration & Operationalization, which will feature J2s/3s/5s from the CYBERCOM Component Commands and/or COCOMs.

K2Share's support for this event comes from our continuing commitment to security as a practice and our belief in the importance of Cybersecurity in protecting our Homeland, as exemplified by the recent release of the next evolution in Cybersecurity situational awareness tools, Cyber Profile™. Cyber Profile™ changes the paradigm from a document-centric model to a data-centric model, creating efficiencies in managing organizational security, including continuous monitoring, situational awareness, and one-step C&A package generation. "This year's topics should provide an interesting look into cyber issues as they apply to Private and Public Clouds and where we are in protecting Critical Infrastructure and preventing Cyber Disasters. AFCEA DC's 3nd Annual Cybersecurity Symposium will again present a unique opportunity for Cybersecurity leaders to come together and discuss challenges, dependencies, and how they will collaborate on the Cybersecurity challenges we continue to face as a nation," said Dr. Larry Teverbaugh, President and CEO, K2Share, LLC.
